Schiffsbewertung Seven Seas Navigator

Kundenbewertung für Seven Seas Navigator (Reisezeitraum Oktober 2023) von Joanne Stephenson

11 Tage Östliches Mittelmeer mit der Seven Seas Navigator
We have recently returned from a 10 night cruise on Regent Seven Seas Navigator (450 pax). We are a Brit/Dutch couple aged 53/60 and have sailed with various other cruise lines, several times, but this was our first time on Regent. Last year, we tried Oceania Marina for the first time and wanted to compare the two as they are sister companies. We’ve had a great cruise but we still (currently) prefer Oceania. We started off in Malta, arriving a couple of days before. Not long enough to truly explore but we fell in love with the place and will definitely return for a longer stay. Our hotel, La Falconeria, was centrally located in Valletta and was very quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and recommended an amazing restaurant called One80, a 5 min walk from the hotel. Embarkation was very quick and easy. You don’t enter the ship through a conventional terminal but by walking through a quaint tunnel that runs under a nearby road and then you check in onboard at the Star Bar with a glass of bubbles in your hand. We then went for lunch in La Veranda whilst we waited for our cabin to be ready. It was obvious, straight away that we were going to be treated very well. The welcome was lovely, warm and friendly and this continued throughout the cruise. The staff on board were just delightful. Always on hand to help, refresh our drinks, have a chat or go out of their way to make sure we were happy. Even the Captain was around every day for a natter. The ‘deluxe window suite’ was the biggest cabin we have ever had with a huge bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and large window. A little dated but very comfortable and spacious. We didn’t miss the balcony but did miss not having fresh air in the room. A bottle of champagne was waiting for us and a bowl of fresh fruit and flowers which were freshened up daily. Being a small ship, everywhere is quick and easy to get to and we got our bearings within 15 mins of walking round. We had been looking forward to the intimacy of a smaller ship but it became obvious to us very quickly that there are pros and cons with this. The food on board was good but not exceptional. The best was in Prime 7, their steakhouse. This you have to reserve. You are given the option to reserve one day, before embarking and then you can return another day but you must speak with the concierge to check availability. We managed to go three times but I think we were just lucky because most of the time it was fully booked. Compass Rose is their main dining room. We never saw it full and it has open seating so you can just stroll up when your ready. The food was good but the presentation was bad, a lot of the time, especially with the vegetables/sides. Every meal, you have a good selection of vegetables to choose from but they brought them out in dishes, way too large, which meant the portions were just stuck in the bottom or side with no garnish or flair. It always looked like they just tipped them into the bowl as quick as they could and sent them on their way. La Veranda is the buffet for breakfast and lunch and turns into their Italian restaurant, Sette Mari, for dinner. Again, nothing special. Their bruschetta was so hard, I couldn’t bite into it without fear of losing a tooth. Being an all-inclusive we took advantage of their cocktails which were delicious. They have a wide selection and we tried our best to sample as many as possible. Also included are the excursions. Normally, in Europe, we wouldn’t bother with excursions and if we do then we book them independently, however, on this occasion we decided to give it a go and on the whole we found them very good. We really enjoyed the trips that focused on local food. We found them all to be very generous and relaxing. The bonus of being on a smaller ship is that often, the groups were very small. The entertainment on board was very hit and miss. The production cast were great but they are churning out the same shows, we’ve seen so many times before. The guest appearances weren’t very inspiring either. The exception was the cocktail pianist LG, who was a joy every night in the Navigator’s lounge and they allowed him to also perform in the theatre, playing more guitar driven music which was fantastic. The activities during the day were uneventful but as we only had two sea days that didn’t matter much as we are quite happy relaxing in a corner with a book, however, with everyone on board being so sociable, we spent most of our time chatting and giggling with fellow passengers. Often the main topic of conversation was the cruise director. A nice man called Ray who has been in the job a long time but seems to have forgotten that it is his job to make his team shine and not a platform for him to sing and dance at any given moment…….and trust me there were a lot of moments. Reading this back it sounds like there were a lot of things that we didn’t like, which may be true but that didn’t stop us from having a lovely time. We’ve made new friends and as always, we make sure we enjoy ourselves but it’s the little things that determine whether we had a great time or a fantastic time and on this occasion we decided if we were to sail with Regent again, we would try one of their slightly larger ships. We like having a more varied selection of restaurants, more quiet places to hang out and more entertainment options. All of which we had on Oceania Marina, last year.

A beautiful ship but a little dated. There wasn't a single comfortable chair where you could sit with a book for a long time. We liked the size as it was very easy and quick to walk around.

Not as good as we expected. Considering this is a premium line, we expected more. It was good but not fantastic.

Nothing special. The cast were very good but we have seen the same shows before and it's time for them to bring the entertainment out of the 50's and show something a bit more modern.
