Wir sind für Sie da.
The route was fun, but we never went to Port Said. Due to high warning status we went, instead, to Aschdod, Isreal. They offered comperable land trips (Bethlehem, Jeruselum and the Dead Sea) and the alternative route did not diminish the experience at all.
We choose to participate in land trips that did not exceed 6 hours as we are not so into "traveling" while already traveling. We explored Limassol on our own. There is a bus station about 150 meters from the ship, No. 30; it costs 1 Euro, in one direction. It takes you directly to the city center - "Altstadt". There is a nifty little medival fortress that you can tour for about 3,50 Euro and several small alleys filled with small stores or cafes. There is also a beach park on the opposite side a little ways down. In Kreta, we went on the Knosses tour booked through Aida. It was awesome! They may have been due to the super entertaining tour guide, who was not only a history major in Greek mythology, but has been doing her job for over 20 years. She was absolutely top. In Marmaris, we went on the soft bicycling tour (also booked through Aida) through the city, over the beach promenade to the beach and back. The first 15 minutes of the tour, was a nightmare but after we passed through the narrow and traffic filled city shopping passages, the ride was just heavenly. The bikes were in top condition and there was more than enough time to enjoy and explore the beach promenade. The only disappointment was that we were one week too early for a lot of water/land trips, i.e.: kayaking, scuba diving, etc. If we had known that they were not yet available, we might have booked a week later!
We were pleasently suprised at the total age group on board. I had the feeling that there was a very mixed age group average onboard: from about 30 to 45 years of age. Since we were not in the vacation time (school), there were not too many children. The cabins were top, nothing to complain about there. I thought that the whirlpools could have been a bit warmer (they were not even body temp.!), so they were nothing but mimi swimming pools for me. O n the other hand, I found the sauna to be very nice. There are 3 rooms and a "shower temple". The sports rooms is also well equipped, something for everyone.
We really enjoyed the food and the buffet style restuarants. The service was 5+ star experience. We were never hungry. Everything was very clean and hygenic. The atmosphere was casual and fostered easy conversations with other passengers. We quickly met several other people/couples. We never dined at the non-inclusive restuarants as the buffet restaurants were more than enough for us.
A few of the shows were interesting but nothing I havent seen before. The casino had a very professional appereance; we didnt gamble ourselves but did watch a few other passengers for awhile. The disco itself was pleasant, but the theme nights could have been better... but who cares with enough alcohol, it doesn't matter much. The nightly happy hour between 22 -23 was nice, but could have been a bit longer. The Last night fact party was entertaining; the crew danced for us and told interesting little facts like how much meat was eaten, wine drunken, etc. Oh, there were also several games available for play on board.
From what I could see, there seemed to be a very well developed childrens entertainment program. We dont have children, but did read what was available for the kids each day in the ships daily newspaper. It seemed to be interesting and fun.
The pool area was a bit small, more like a wading pool to cool your feet or self for a moment, rather than something to swim in, but that did not bother us much. Sometime it felt a bit like a war zone trying to get a good place to tan on the sun deck, but with a little patience, it always worked. Perhaps a few more parlor games on the sun deck and not so many games that costs so much extra money (bingo!).
Smooth, without problem. Absolutely perfect to the last minute. Since our plane left quite late and we booked with Aida, we could either bum around on the ship all day or participate in one last land trip. The crew was super friendly, helpful and engaging. If we had questions, housekeeping was often unable to answer, but if you found a german crew mate, they were often far more informative.

Make sure you bring a key chain for your neck (lanyard) for your board card; they dont give one out and it costs something like 6 Euros on board.
