MS Zuiderdam ist ein im Jahr 2002 in Dienst gestelltes Premiumschiff. Die Zuiderdam ist Reisenden besonders zu empfehlen, die die später in Mode gekommenen Riesenschiffe nicht schätzen. Die Zuiderdam ist kein Familienschiff. Der Altersdurchschnitt ist bei allen Holland America-Schiffen deutlich höher als man es von den Schiffen der beiden führenden deutschen Kreuzfahrtmarken gewohnt ist. Das Schiff hat Charme; es besitzt nicht die Kälte moderner Neubauten.
