Barcelona (Spain) - Picture 1
The town is a harmonious mixture of the traditional and the modern and you will find both historic buildings dating from medieval times and ultra-modern architecture. Barcelona is the most important economic centre in Catalonia. This Mediterranean metropolis also has lots to offer in cultural terms, including, among other things, the Picasso Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery of Catalonia. The cathedreal "La Seu", which dates from the 13th century, is situated in the gothic old town "Barri Gotic". But Barcelona's landmark is the "Sagrada Familia", the church designed by Antoni Gaudi. Barcelona is busy by day and lively by night. One of the other main attractions is "Las Ramblas", the splendid promenade in the city centre with countless pavement cafes, shops, restaurants, bars and discos. Other must-sees include "El Puerto", the harbour with a wonderful view of Barcelona, and the nearby boulevard "Paseo de Colón".

The southern Spanish coastal town in Andalucia has a trading port and a naval port. It is connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land measuring 9km in length and by a bridge. It has a population of 154,000. Sights in this city founded by the Phoenicians around 1100 B.C. include the medical faculty at the University of Seville, the old cathedral (13th and 16th century) and the new cathedral, built in the 18th/19th century. In historical terms, Cádiz gained huge importance as the starting point for the Spanish expeditions to the West Indies.

Royal Naval Dockyard (Ireland Island, Bermuda) - Picture 1
The Royal Naval Dockyard, also known as King's Wharf, is on Ireland Island in the most westerly of the nine regions of Bermuda, Sandys Parish. The port facilities were operated for many years by the British as the "Gibraltar of the West". It served as the dockyard and supply station for the ships sailing between the West Indies in the Caribbean and Nova Scotia. The fort, built between 1814 and 1863 served as a base in both World Wars and was abandoned in 1951. The buildings were later given a new lease of life: today there is a Museum of Seafaring, a cinema, an arts and crafts market and the Bermuda Snorkelling Park. The beautiful beaches of Somerset Long Bay are also close by. Nowadays, the dock is a port of call for many cruise ships. Other ports in the Bermudas are St. George and Hamilton.

Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, USA)
Arrival: 07:00
07:00
Philadelphia, with a population in excess of one million and the largest city in Pennsylvania, has managed to retain the charm of a small town with the sights in the Independence National Historic Park dating from the 18th century. This large city in the East of the USA is considerably less hectic and arrogant than, say, New York or Boston. The cracked Liberty Bell, as well as the congress hall and the Old City Hall are particularly worth seeing. There is also a 'Germantown', originally founded by German immigrants. Branded products can be bought at low prices in more than 100 outlet stores on the outskirts of the city. Philadelphia is also well known as a city of art and museums. Sights include: the Please Touch Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia Zoo, the oldest botanic gardens in the USA, Woodmere Art Museum, Glen Foerd Mansion built in 1850 by the river, and the former home of the author Edgar Allan Poe.
