The small island of Boracay - just 7 km long and 1 km wide at its narrowest point - is to the North of the Phillipine island of Panay. Boracay has a great many hills; there is a completely untouched tropical rainforest in one part of the island. The island has a few villages connected by jungle paths. "White Beach", which stretches for miles and is lined with palm trees, is an excellent place to relax and sunbathe. As well as the beaches, the main attraction is the range of water sports on offer in the crystal-clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Cairns, the capital of the "Far North" region is full of that tropical lust for life. As the secret "backpacker capital" of Australia, it has an almost magical pull on young travellers thanks to the seemingly limitless recreational activities it has to offer. It is far easier to reach the Great Barrier Reef from here than from central Queensland. The crystal-clear waters, palm-lined islands and sandbanks attract divers and snorkellers in particular, making the two offshore islands, Green Island and Fitzroy Island, hugely popular holiday destinations. The outer reef loved by divers is around 50 km away. In the near vicinity are untouched sections of coast and a mysterious wilderness of rainforest backed by a high mountain range.

This is one of the main towns in the Kingdom of Tonga, with a population of approximately 21,383. The royal palace, situated at the waterside, which was built during the Victorian era, is particularly worth seeing. The royal tombs (Malaekula) can be found in the southern part of the business area. The picturesque covered market and the Tongan National Centre, where visitors can learn various handicrafts, are not to be missed. The bird park around 2 km off the main road, where staff endeavour to conserve the native birdlife - particularly red shining parrots - through a breeding programme, is also extremely interesting.

This 171 km² large island in the Eastern Pacific Ocean has belonged to Chile since 1888. Three extinct volcanoes with crater lakes, sparsely vegetated elevated planes and the craggy-cliffed coastline dominate the island's surface. Surrounded by several thousand kilometres of seawater in almost every direction, it is one of the most remote islands in the world - and one of the most mysterious. Tourists travel to Easter Island solely to see the Moai, the mythological figures hewn in tufa stone, weighing between 80 and 100 tonnes and standing up to 20 metres high, whose secrets have still not been completely uncovered, despite the efforts of countless researchers. Today, Easter Island is home to more than 2,000 people. The airport was completed in 1967 in order to encourage tourists. The only town on the island is Hanga Roa.
