The cube houses in Rotterdam are located directly behind the Old Harbour near the Market Hall and are a highlight of any visit. They were designed in the 1970s by the architect Piet Blom and subsequently built. The unusual housing complex, which comprises 51 houses including a hotel and museum, is meant to imitate a forest with trees, with the cubes representing the treetops and the staircases the tree trunks. You can also go inside the Kijk-Kubus museum for about 3 euros daily from 11-17 hrs to marvel at an unusual house from the inside.
As the highest visitor observation tower in the Netherlands, the 185-metre-high Euromast offers a spectacular view over the beautiful city and harbour of Rotterdam. On a cloudless day, it is even possible to see the North Sea Coast, which is about 30 km away. A lift provides barrier-free access to the visitor platform and the panorama restaurant in a short time. The access to the rotating, glass cabin "Euroscoops" with a 360-degree panoramic view at a height of up to 180 metres can be reached via a few steps. The Euromast is open daily and tickets are available in advance online or on site at a price of about 10.50 euros for adults and about 7.00 euros for children (no cash payment possible). The tower can be reached by public transport and by car; parking spaces are available nearby for a fee. A tip for adrenaline junkies: it is possible to rappel down from the Euromast from a height of approx. 100 metres.
The port of Rotterdam is the largest in Europe. On one of the unforgettable harbour tours with the typical Spido boats, the impressive skyline with its imposing architecture and the maritime history of the city can be admired from the water. The various tours take you along the most fascinating stretches of the river Meuse and the most interesting parts of the harbour area. The boats offer an open upper deck, which invites to take photos, and are barrier-free accessible. Tickets for the 75-minute harbour tour are available at a price of about 15.25 euros for adults and about 8.95 euros for children. The 2.5-hour "Grand Harbour Tour" costs approx. 25.50 euros and approx. 14.85 euros respectively.
Both the Kunsthal and the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum are located in the Museum Park in Rotterdam and are therefore ideally situated to visit both. The building was designed by the famous architect Rem Koolhass and impresses visitors with its unexpected design. The numerous exhibitions that attract many guests from all over the world there every year can be marvelled at from around 16.50 euros for adults. Young people up to 17 years of age even have free admission. The 25 temporary exhibitions per year include masterpieces of Impressionism, Leonardo da Vinci and Pop Art. The Boijmans van Beuningen Museum is the largest art museum in Rotterdam and here, too, you can admire numerous works of art and exhibitions. Most of the collection comes from the bequest of Rotterdam lawyer Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans in 1847, the rest has been bought over the years. There are also various statues and sculptures by different artists in front of the building, which, by the way, is a listed building. From about 20 euros for adults, it is possible to visit the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen from 11 am to 6 pm daily.
