The port lies in the South-East of the Mexican province of Sonora and was founded in 1701. Guaymas became famous through fishing, particularly on account of the "Camarones" (shrimps) caught here.
Sights include: the bank of Sonora with its neo-classical architecture, the "Plaza de San Fernando" and "Plaza de los tres Presidentes".
