Marseille is considered to be the largest and oldest port on the French Mediterranean coast and a glamorous metropolis. The city was founded in a picturesque bay in the 6th century B.C. by the Greek colonists. Initially it thrived from trading and quickly developed into an important port. Marseille is a welcoming cosmopolitan tourist town with a wide variety of shopping, entertainment and recreational facilities. Sights include: St. Victor's basilica, the old harbour, the poor house "la Ville Charité", the cathedral of la Major, the town hall, the historical museum, the Roman Docks Museum, the Archaeological Museum, Longchamp Museum, Grobet-Labadié Museum, Cantini Museum.

The excursion begins with a trip to the holy city of Avignon, one-time residence of many popes. A visit to the papal palace, with its many galleries, chambers and chapels, is also on the agenda. There will then be free time for lunch. The participants will then return to Marseilles.

The excursion begins with a visit the city of popes and the village of Les Baux. In Avignon a visit to the Papal Palace is also on the agenda. There will then be free time to relax in a local cafe on the Place de l'Horlogue and to stroll around the city. The trip continues with a visit the famous St. Benezet bridge. In Les Baux there will also be an opportunity to visit the remains of the 11th century citadel.

Tour of Marseille

The excursion begins with a visit to the old port of Marseilles, the City Hall and the basilica Nôtre Dame de la Garde. The agenda then includes a panoramic tour along the coastal road Corniche to Boreley Castle. Boreley Castle was built in the 18th-century and has a French Park and rose garden. To end with there will be an opportunity to visit the Palais Longchamp, surrounded by fountains and gardens.
