452 Customer evaluations: 4.0 / 5 3 von fünf und mehr Sterne Bewertungen
The cosy little town of Bar Harbor in Maine, New England, lies to the East of Mount Desert Island - the third-largest island on the West-Atlantic coast. The port used to be a resort for millionaires. In the 19th century, Bar Harbour with its Victorian mansions was the summer residence of New England's high society. Today, the town is part of one of the most-visited American National Parks, picturesque "Acadia National Park". The Park encompasses the majority of Mount Desert Island and has trails for cycling, walking and riding measuring a total of 273 km in length. The many cliffs and the beautiful coastal landscapes provide visitors with an intense and unforgettable experience of nature.

Tips for excursions

Atlantic Brewery & Tavern

The Atlantic Brewery Company produces a range of prize-winning ales, including the famous Blueberry Ale, which is made from Maine's wild blueberries. So it was that the Atlantic Brewery Company became the top beer supplier in the region of Bar Harbor. For traditional reasons the beer is only sold in the vicinity and is not to be found in any supermarket outside the state of Maine. The excursion begins with a short trip from the quay to the brewery, which is near the town of Bar Harbor. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by the guide. A private guided tour of the brewery and practical introduction to brewing beer. Includes a free tasting of various different flavours of ale.

Acadia National Park

This excursion takes you along the roads of the Acadia National Park, with a total length of almost 44 km, and offers spectacular views of the island's coastal, forest and mountain landscapes. The tour takes in the tranquil town of Bar Harbor with its bewitching Victorian villas, built at the turn of the 20th century by America's wealthiest and best-known citizens. There will then be a break to take photos on the summit of the Cadillac Mountain, which, at a height of more than 400 metres, represents the highest point on the American eastern seaboard.
