Torvik is the most important port for the approximately 8,000 residents of the island in Heröyfjord. A detour to the pretty town of Alesund, which was destroyed in a fire in 1904 and rebuilt in the space of just three years in Art Nouveau style with the help of the German emperor Wilhelm II. is well worth it.
