The participants leave the landing stage in a 4x4 jeep, passing Cairns on their way to the foot of the Dividing Range mountains. Morning tea will be served during a brief rest stop in the rainforest. It's then on through the rainforest to higher altitudes, with views of grazing land with cattle, fields of sugar beet and the native wilderness. With a bit of luck you will be able to spot a wallaby and a grey kangaroo. There are spectacular views of the village of Mossman and the Daintree delta right over to the volcanic foothills of Mount Thornton and Mount Pieter Botte, providing the backdrop to an Australian barbecue and a bottle of original Australian wine, along with beer and soft drinks. After lunch the tour continues to Port Douglas. The participants will visit the Rain Forest Habitat, where they will be able to see Australian fauna and flora. The tour is rounded off by a trip back to the starting point along the Captain Cook Highway, one of Australia's most beautiful coastal roads.
This tour offers participants the opportunity to get to know the customs and traditions of the Aborigines and the lives of indigenous wildlife. There will be a visit to the Koala and Wildlife Sanctuary and a chance to enjoy a performance by the Pamigirri dancers, who will explain some of the movements involved in local dance and the meanings behind them. There'll then be an opportunity to learn how to throw a boomerang.
The participants will travel on the historic railway, built more than a century ago, and experience a special excursion through mountains and rainforest with many waterfalls. During the trip there will be a commentary on the sights to be seen along the way. Then there will be the chance to get to know the town of Kuranda. A coach will bring the group to the rainforest station, where an amphibious vehicle from the Second World War will be waiting. During the trip on the Army Duck the participants will see the world of the rainforest and life in the river. The next stop is at the Koala and Wildlife Sanctuary, with the opportunity to see native animals. The trip from Kuranda to Cairns gives the participants splendid views of Green Island.
